Jordan Veretout is on the verge of completing a transfer away from Aston Villa, and is undergoing a medical with Fiorentina ahead of a move to Serie A, reports the Daily Mail.
Villa signed the midfielder for a reported £7m ahead of the 2015/16 season, and are set to receive £6m from Fiorentina for the 24-year-old.
The French midfielder struggled during his time at Villa Park, making just 25 league appearances for Villa, which all came during his first season with the club, which ended in relegation form the top-flight.
Ahead of Villa’s Sky Bet Championship campaign last year, Veretout opted to move to St Etienne on a season-long loan.
During the 2016/17 campaign, Veretout made 42 appearances across all competitions for the French outfit, scoring four goals.
St Etienne had been hopeful of signing Veretout this summer, but their £5m offer fell short of Tony Xia’s valuation of the player, opening the door for Fiorentina.
Villa are working to a budget this summer in a bid to keep inline with Financial Fair Play rules, and Xia and Steve Bruce are aware of the club’s need to move players out of Villa Park.
Villa begin their Championship campaign in under two weeks, when they welcome Hull City to Villa Park on August 5th.
