Steve Bruce has confirmed that Josh Onomah could return for Aston Villa for this weekend’s clash with Barnsley, reports the club’s official Twitter account.
Onomah was forced from the field after 71 minutes of Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Brentford, with an injury that forced him to miss Villa’s clash with Middlesbrough in the Sky Bet Championship last night.
However, the on-loan Tottenham midfielder could return against Barnsley this weekend, when Villa will be going in search of just their second Championship victory of the season.

Villa have made a lacklustre start to the Championship season, and after seven fixtures sit a lowly 18th with just seven points to their name.
Last night saw Bruce’s men draw their fourth fixture of the season, with Middlesbrough holding Villa, as the rivals played out an entertaining 0-0 draw, which saw both teams finish with 10 men.
Whilst Bruce could provide a positive injury update on Onomah in the wake of Villa’s clash with Boro, he had bad news about Andre Green, who is facing a lengthy spell out of action following surgery.
Green could be out for months, having undergone surgery on a hamstring injury.
Onomah’s return after just a one game absence is a huge positive for Bruce, who is desperately looking to inspire Villa to start picking up results.
Villa’s form is worrying, and they are in desperate need of players to put their hand up and drag the club through the difficult place they find themselves in.
Onomah has the confidence and ability to be that man, but Bruce will also be looking to other areas of his squad to support the youngster.
