Birkir Bjarnason is a player who Aston Villa’s supporters rate highly, with the Icelandic midfielder a popular figure around Villa Park.

Over the course of this season, Bjarnason has featured on 25 occasions in the Sky Bet Championship, scoring three goals and registering a further two assists.

The 29-year-old has impressed when he’s been given a chance, but Steve Bruce has a clear lack of trust in the midfielder.

In those 25 Championship appearance, Bjarnason has started on just 11 occasions, with Mile Jedinak or Glenn Whelan preferred in the holding midfield role on the big occasion.

Saturday will see Villa take on Fulham in the play-off final, with Jedinak, their hero in the play-off semi-final, likely to be given the nod in a holding midfield role.

Due to Bjarnason’s inconsistent opportunities, we asked Villa’s supporters if they believe the midfielder will be offloaded, if Premier League football is achieved.

Villa’s supporters seem torn over Bjarnason’s future, with 55% of voters in our poll believing that if Villa win promotion, he should be moved on. However, 45%, in a close contest, don’t believe Bruce should sell the midfielder.
