According to reliable journalist Alan Nixon, Chelsea have decided to loan out Tammy Abraham on deadline day but Aston Villa are not alone in this pursuit.

Bordeaux are also hoping to complete the signing of Abraham, although their interest will spark a bidding war with Aston Villa.

Nixon told Twitter: "TAMMY ABRAHAM. Suddenly Chelsea considering a move. Bordeaux in France keen. Villa bound to react too."

The twice-capped England international is down the pecking order at Chelsea and a loan move is sensible for his career progression.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Swansea City, scoring eight times as they were relegated, but he netted 26 goals in 48 games for Championship side Bristol City as a teenager in the 2016/17 season.

Abraham has the choice between joining top flight club Bordeaux in Ligue 1 or staying in England but dropping down a division with the Villans.

The Verdict

If Aston Villa beat Bordeaux to Abraham, then this is a real statement of intent.

The young striker is a proven goal scorer at this level and he has a point to prove.

He may favour a move to Bordeaux to continue playing top flight football, but Steve Bruce needs to go all out to finalise this deal if he can today.
