Championship side Aston Villa are eyeing up a summer move for French midfield sensation Abdoulaye Sissako, according to The Sun.
Villans boss Steve Bruce is on the lookout for reinforcements this summer as he looks to lead the Midlands giants back to the Premier League, having lost their top-flight status following a disastrous campaign back in 2015/16.
And the former Birmingham boss replaced the sacked Roberto Di Matteo last term to help guide the side to 13th place in the Championship, yet expectations will be significantly higher this time round from the Villa Park faithful.
And that means that the 56-year-old will seriously need to bolster his squad, and one man he is reportedly keeping an eye on is Auxerre midfielder Sissako, a France Under-19 international.
The 19-year-old came up through the ranks at the Ligue 2 side and then through their B team before making his senior debut for the club at the start of last season, a campaign which saw him go on to play 14 times in all competitions.
And it’s thought that the Villans are eyeing up a move for the talented midfielder, with reports suggesting that scouts from the Midlands outfit were in attendance as Sissako played in the Toulon Tournament last week.
Whether or not Villa are able to get a deal done, especially with German side Hamburg also reportedly interested, remains to be seen, but what is clear is their ambition and desire to improve the squad ahead of a pivotal Championship campaign.
