Championship club Aston Villa could swoop for Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback, according to the Chronicle.

The diminutive little midfielder has fallen out of favour at St James’ Park over the last six months or so, and a move away would be no real surprise to Newcastle fans. who no doubt be wouldn’t be too upset to see him moved on.

Villa on the other hand are desperate for new additions to the squad, and players who know the Championship but can bring some real quality with them to the club at the same time.

Colback moved to Newcastle after a spell at Sunderland, much to the surprise of both the Toon Army and Mackems. He made over 100 appearances for Sunderland, and has gone to make just shy of that amount during his time in the black and white of the Toon.

Newcastle themselves will be looking to freshen things up after last seasons promotion to the Premier League, and could well see Colback as surplus to requirements depending on their summer in-comings.

Villa manager Steve Bruce will be desperate to improve on last year’s performance in the Championship, and Villa will no doubt start the season as one of the favourites for the league title once again.

Villa fans, what do you think to think? Good signing? Let us know your thoughts!
