According to Football Insider, Aston Villa are taking a good look at non-league striker Callum Kealy with him performing very well outside the first four divisions of English football.
The men from Villa Park endured a pretty poor time last weekend as they lost at Molineux against a Wolves side clearly capable of winning the league this season. With great attacking prowess and strength in depth, the men in gold are going to be tough to stop and Villa could do with matching them for options.
Kealy, then, might be someone that they go for though the jury would be out on him with him only 19-years-old and currently playing for the Met Police. He has four goals in eight games this season, though, and with him having plenty of time to grow he could be someone worth taking a punt on for what would surely be a small fee.
Indeed, with the inflating transfer market and the recent emergence of the likes of Jamie Vardy, clubs are going to look to non-league more and more and so Villa might be the next side to try and pull off a masterstroke.
The Verdict
It's obviously a risk in signing a young player from non-league football who has little experience but he was at Brighton as a youth player and so would jump at the chance.
Giving hungry players a roll of the dice could pay dividends and it'll be interesting to see if this one comes off in the near future.
