Highly-rated 18-year-old defender Jerome Onguene is attracting attention from Aston Villa, according to the Daily Mail.

Following the discouraging circumstance of Villa’s relegation, it has been blamed that the club’s current centre back pairing, Micah Richards and Joleon Lescott, are primarily at fault.

The versatile defender can also play in the full back positions as well as his preferred role at centre back, which is also an attribute that has sparked attention from various clubs.

The Cameroonian international presently plays for Sochaux, in Ligue 2, and has found the net once since his call up to the first team in 2013.

However, Villa face fierce competition for the 18-year-old, with Crystal Palace currently in the pole position to sign Onguéné.

Although despite the fact Palace are favourites, Villa will not succeed in toning down their interest, as they acquire more availability of first team football for the Cameroonian.

Villa fans…. What do you make of this news? Would you like to see Onguéné at your club next season?
