Yannick Bolasie has held talks with Steve Bruce and Aston Villa, as the Midlands outfit look to hijack Middlesbrough’s attempts to sign the winger on loan.

According to Keith Downie from Sky Sports, Boro and Villa are in hot pursuit of Bolasie, with the Sky Bet Championship rivals looking to bring the Everton winger in on loan between now and the transfer deadline at the end of August.

Bolasie, 29, has travelled to Bodymoor Heath today for talks with Bruce and Villa, after the club made an approach to sign him from under Middlesbrough’s nose.

Bruce is looking to add two wingers to his squad between now and the end of the month, as he looks to finalise a difficult summer of transfer business.

Andre Green and Albert Adomah are competing for a place on the left of Villa’s midfield, whilst Ahmed Elmohamady has been deputising on the right, despite featuring heavily last season as a right-back.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Sheyi Ojo is another player on Bruce’s radar at this late stage of the summer, alongside Bolasie.

After talks with both Boro and Villa in the last 48 hours, Bolasie now has a decision to make on his next destination.

The Verdict

Bolasie would be an exciting addition to Villa’s squad, with this update one that will please supporters.

Robert Snodgrass hasn’t been replaced on the right, but Bolasie would solve a lot of Villa’s problems if they can get him on board.

If Bruce’s side can sneak in ahead of Boro, it’ll feel like a real coup.
