Aston Villa’s official Twitter account have tweeted a message of support to injured striker Jonathan Kodjia, who looks set to miss the start of next season through injury.

It was confirmed yesterday that Kodjia had suffered a broken ankle in Saturday’s defeat to Blackburn Rovers, which instantly ruled him out of Villa’s final game of the season.

Kodjia could now miss the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign, which is a huge blow for Steve Bruce, given the Ivorian’s goalscoring form this season.

The 27-year old has scored 19 goals during his first season at Villa Park and his injury means he will fall agonisingly short of the 20-goal mark.

Villa’s official media revealed a collage of images from Kodjia’s season, alongside a message of support, which read: “You’ll be back better than ever, @J_Kodjia… You should be proud of a brilliant season in front of goal.”

Bruce was left disappointed by the performance in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Blackburn, but his side have a chance to end the season positively this coming Sunday when title-chasing Brighton and Hove Albion visit Villa Park.
