Aston Villa defender nears return to the Premier League with West Ham United

Ex-Aston Villa captain Micah Richards could be set to depart the West Midlands club after just one season and join West Ham on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal, according to journalist Daniel Taylor.

The once England international endured a horrible season at Villa Park as Aston Villa finished rock-bottom of the Premier League after a humiliating season.

New boss Roberto Di Matteo has looked to change the identity of the squad, and Richards appears to be one of the casualties of this, therefore a Deadline Day departure looks likely.

Richards does have pedigree in the Premier League, having gained a winners medal whilst at Manchester City, but has a great deal of work to do to revive his career.

It doesn’t seem like that opportunity will come in the Championship with Villa, but more likely at the London Stadium under Slaven Bilic.

Villa fans…What do you think? Would you like to see Richards depart? Or does he still have something to offer? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
