Aston Villa will head into the play-off final on Monday looking to banish the ghost of last year and win out at Wembley.

Dean Smith's men will be looking to get past an in-form Derby County side who pulled off the shock of the play-offs when they saw off Leeds United at Elland Road, and Smith will be well aware of the task his team face.

Regardless of the result at Wembley though, there will be some big decisions to be made in the summer by both management and certain players, who will have their futures decided one way or the other.

One of the players who is set to see his future decided at the club over the summer is defender Tommy Elphick, who is due to see his contract expire following a loan spell with Hull last season and 11 games for Dean Smith's side before injury robbed him of his season.

However, news this weekend has emerged that Hull are indeed interested in bringing Elphick back to the KCom on a permanent basis, and we here at FLW think Elphick has to be looking to push this move through.

His time with Villa has not been a successful one at all, and ever since he made a big money move from Bournemouth just a few seasons back, he has struggled for both form and fitness.

While some would argue Elphick has been a victim of a period of indecisiveneness at Villa Park, the fact of the matter remains that the centre half has simply not shown the form he did for the Cherries in a Villa shirt, and he wouldn't exactly be missed by the Villa faithful.

A clean break for all involved might be the best case scenario here, and Elphick can go on to flourish under Nigel Adkins with regular football and less pressure on him if he does move to Hull.

Elphick has enough in the tank to be a success in the Championship, it just looks like his time with Villa should come to an end if he is to keep his career going at this level.
