Jack Butland's future at Stoke City seems as though it'll rumble on some more heading into the summer, with Aston Villa's interest in signing him not going away.

But their chances of landing his signature ahead of the new season have been dealt a frustrating blow, with the Mirror claiming that Dean Smith's side are unwilling to match Stoke's valuation of the shot-stopper.

Stoke value Butland at £30m, which is seemingly too steep of a price for the newly-promoted Villans to pay for his services.

It had also been previously reported by the Daily Mail, that Watford and AFC Bournemouth were both interest in signing the England international.

It is thought that Butland is keen to move elsewhere, with his chances of remaining in the England set-up ahead of Euro 2020 looking slim if he isn't playing at a higher level than in the Championship with Stoke.

The Potters struggled in their first season back in the Championship last term, although Butland was a bright spark for Nathan Jones' side.

In a recent interview (quotes sourced from the Mirror), Jones has issued his thoughts on the interest in Butland, and revealed that he wouldn't stand in his way if a good offer came in to sign him.

"If something comes up that is too good to turn down - then look, we are not one to stand in people’s way – but it’s got to be one hell of an offer because he’s arguably England’s best keeper."

The Verdict:

This will be hugely frustrating for Butland heading into pre-season.

He's evidently good enough to be playing in the Premier League next season, especially after his impressive showings for Stoke last season.

If he wants to be a regular in the England set-up, then he'll know that he might need to force a move back into the top-flight to achieve that.

I think it's only a matter of time before he is to depart in the summer.
