Aston Villa’s hunt to secure a loan deal for West Ham United midfielder Robert Snodgrass is proving increasingly problematic, with the Premier League side unwilling to agree a loan deal.

According to Birmingham Live, Hammers head coach Manuel Pellegrini is reluctant to loan out the 30-year-old winger, despite interest from Steve Bruce’s side.

Snodgrass spent last season on loan at Villa Park, where he scored seven goals and racked up 14 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions, in a campaign which saw the Claret and Blue Army reach the Championship play-off final.

Despite losing the play-off final to Fulham, the Scottish international had a successful spell on loan at Villa, and has become one of Bruce’s top transfer targets.

Bruce has acquired the likes of Andre Moreira, Axel Tuanzebe, Orjan Nyland and John McGinn already this summer, but hopes to add around three more players before the loan transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

The Verdict

The signing of Robert Snodgrass could potentially be huge for Aston Villa for the season ahead.

The Scot impressed throughout last season, and played a huge role in getting the Claret and Blue Army to the play-off final, but it seems he may not be back for this campaign.

Unlikely to feature much for West Ham, it is a move that benefits both Snodgrass and Aston Villa, but perhaps not the Hammers.
