Aston Villa are set to miss out on the signing of midfielder, Nemanja Radoja due to work permit issues according to Eldesmarque.

The Spanish media outlet claim that a deal had been agreed between Villa and Celta Vigo for the 25-year-old, but there have been a number of work permit issues preventing the move this month.

The Croatian international is out of contract in the summer and he would have been available at a cheaper price, and it was originally thought that Dean Smith's side had the won the race to secure his signature.

The work permit issues that are thought to be putting a halt to any potential deal include the number of international appearances he has made, and the bargain price that was being quoted.

These issues mean that they wouldn't pass the requirements needed in England, therefore seemingly putting an end to any transfer agreement between the two clubs.

This will be bitterly disappointing news as Radoja is a man that will be in demand in the summer and Villa will face a tougher ask if they are to sign the midfielder.

The central midfielder made 26 appearances for Celta Vigo last season but hasn't played a single game for the Spanish side and will surely be letting his contract run down until it expires in the summer.

The Verdict:

This is a frustrating blow for Aston Villa.

With a deal reportedly being agreed between the two sides, they would have hoped that this transfer would have been all but done.

But with the work permit issues arising, it leaves Villa with no alternative option but to cancel the deal.

Smith will need to look for another target after this move fell through.
