Aston Villa could offer Gabby Agbonlahor a new deal at the club, despite releasing the striker last month.

The club's desperate situation has been well-documented, with Villa in a grave financial situation and they will be forced to sell their top stars.

Jack Grealish and James Chester are sure to leave and Jonathan Kodjia could also depart as he is commanding a weekly wage of around £35,000.

Therefore, according to the Mirror, Steve Bruce could be forced to turn to Agbonlahor, who was given a send-off towards the end of the season.

However, the boss is aware they could be short on numbers next season and the report reveals the 31-year old former England international has yet to take up any other offers.

Agbonlahor is reluctant to move down the leagues and so far hasn't been keen on the offers that have come his way from abroad.

Obviously, the academy graduate would have to take a major pay cut on his previous deal, although his form and fitness over recent years would still concern fans.

The Verdict

This highlights just how much trouble are in because they really shouldn't be looking to re-sign Agbonlahor.

He has been a fine player over the years but he has barely contributed over recent seasons and at 31-years old is clearly past his best.

The club should be looking to bring in young, hungry players and it would be hugely surprising to see this deal happen.
