Aston Villa will turn their attention to Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo as they aim to bolster their options out wide with a loan signing.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, reporting a story from The Sun on Sunday, Aston Villa are unlikely to sign Robert Snodgrass and Marc Albrighton on loan so they will target Ojo instead.

The Villans were hoping to re-sign Snodgrass on loan after a successful spell last season at Villa Park, where he scored seven goals and registered 14 assists.

But the Scotland international came off the bench for West Ham United in their opening match against Liverpool and then started against Bournemouth.

It looks like the 30-year-old will play a part in Manuel Pellegrini's plans at West Ham, while Albrighton started against Wolves for Leicester City at the weekend.

Aston Villa will now turn to Ojo, who spent last season on loan at Fulham, scoring four times.

He previously spent time on loan with Wigan Athletic and Wolves in the Championship.

The 21-year-old is down the pecking order at Liverpool and will be allowed to leave on loan again.

The Verdict

Ojo has undoubted talent but his loan spell at Fulham was mixed; some games he was impressive and others he went missing.

Another loan spell to the Championship would benefit his game and Aston Villa would be a good destination for him to learn his trade.

Aston Villa probably need one more winger to add competition in that department as Andre Green is still a raw talent and not yet the finished product.
