Sky Bet Championship side Aston Villa and Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers have all shown an interest in Barnsley’s rising star Conor Hourihane, according to the Irish Sun.
Conor Hourihane is Barnsley’s captain and has been at the heart of the South Yorkshire side’s astronomical rise from the bottom half of League 1 to the Championship.
Hourinhane’s rich vein of form has continued this season with two goals and four assists in Barnsley’s opening six games.
The 25-year-old midfielder’s efforts have been acknowledged as he won the Sky Bet Championship player of the month award for the month of August.
The performances of the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has been attracting attention from fellow Championship sides Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic.
It has also alerted the interest of the Old Firm duo Celtic and Rangers who are both reportedly interested in signing the midfielder, potentially in the January transfer window.
Paul Heckingbottom will be hoping that the speculation surrounding Hourihane dies down as he will hope that Hourihane continues to be a lynchpin of Barnsley’s success.
