It's going to be a very busy and tough summer for Aston Villa as they look to build a side that can challenge for promotion despite their financial issues.

Those problems have been well-documented, with the West Midlands side needing to raise serious cash by the end of the window and all their best players are likely to leave.

Obviously, that is going to mean they require replacing but Steve Bruce is not going to have big money to find new players.

Therefore, he will have to search for bargains and use whatever funds are available wisely.

Here we look at three potential signings Villa could make...

They've been linked with move for the giant defender and he would be a smart signing.

Burn is at a good age and showed for Wigan last season that he is a very capable player, helping them win League One and in the FA Cup against some top sides.

The Hibs midfielder is in-demand and would be a superb signing for Bruce. The Scotland international has a great all-round game, good energy and would add a lot to the team.

They will need to sell a lot before they buy but they should use whatever cash they can to bring McGinn to Villa Park.

Signing a striker is going to be a priority and they will want a proven goalscorer and one man who has delivered for Villa is Grabban.

He enjoyed a productive loan spell last season and another temporary move would be Villa's best bet at bringing him back but if they do he guarantees goals.
