Aston Villa boss provides huge transfer hint ahead of Ipswich Town tie

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has revealed the club are close to completing their first signing of the winter transfer window, during an interview with the club’s official website ahead of his side’s trip to Nottingham Forest this evening.

The former Hull City boss is keen to strengthen his squad in the coming weeks with several new additions, with the West Midlands side well in the hunt for a place in the top-six.

Bruce’s side lie just five points behind second-place Derby County, with an automatic promotion berth the ultimate target at Villa Park over the course of the coming months.
Villa fans are keen to see movement this month, and Bruce was quick to ensure fans that deals were in progress.

“Everyone knows and understands the situation we’re in and that we don’t have loads of money to spend,” Bruce told the club’s official site.

“We’re close to one or two things.

“We’re particularly close to one, let’s hope it can happen.”

The Verdict

Aston Villa fans will be desperate to see their side bolster their ranks this month, and reports of a new addition being close will excite fans at Villa Park.

With promotion well in reach, Bruce must refuse to rest on his laurels, and despite the club’s financial restrictions, must look to utilise the loan market in an effective manner to ensure his side is ready for the second half of the campaign.

If Bruce can bring several quality men in, then Villa will surely be there or thereabouts in May.
