Aston Villa boss hopeful over double transfer swoop

Published

on

Steve Bruce has confirmed Aston Villa are close to securing deals for two players this coming week, reports the Express and Star.

The two players are believed to be Barnsley duo, Conor Hourihane and James Bree, both of whom Villa have tabled bids for this transfer window.

The pair were both impressive during Saturday’s emphatic 3-2 victory over local rivals Leeds United, with Hourihane scoring a spectacular free-kick.

Bruce is looking to bolster his squad this month, as his sides play-off hopes become slimmer.

Villa are currently 13th in the Sky Bet Championship, and threw away a two-goal lead against Preston North End on Saturday. Two goals from Albert Adomah had put Bruce’s side in control, before a Jordan Hugill brace levelled the contest.

There were positives for Villa fans though, as January signing Henri Lansbury made his debut in the centre of midfield.

Villa face off against Brentford in their next Sky Bet Championship match next Tuesday, and will be looking for three points to help propel them nearer to the coveted top six in the division.
