Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce still believes that the club can reach the play-offs, according to The Express and Star.

For the majority of this season, Aston Villa fans have been disappointed and underwhelmed but a recent good run of form has lifted them into the top half of the table and Bruce believes that they shouldn't be ruled out of the running just yet.

The Villains are currently 12th in the Championship table and they are separated from the top six by eleven points, with just eight games left to play.

While Bruce maintained that there was a chance, he also admitted that it would be a "tall order".

The Villa boss predicted that Aston Villa would need to win at least seven and draw the other to even give themselves a chance of reaching a play-off spot this season.

That would be a run of form which would earn Aston Villa 22 points from their final 8 games.

Bruce said:

“We have a squeak.

"To stand a chance this season?

"We have eight games.

"Realistically… yes probably.

"If we won seven and drew one… maybe.

"You never know.

“It’s a tall order for us – but for sure we won’t give up."
