Reports from Team Talk have revealed that Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa are closing in on a deal to bring Premier League winger Robert Snodgrass to the club on loan.
The Scotland international, who played for Bruce during his time at Hull City, has been told by West Ham to find a new club despite only signing for the Hammers in January of this year.
The 29-year-old cost Villa £10 million back in January but due to FFP, Aston Villa aren’t in a position to sign the winger on a permanent deal.
Snodgrass, who is something of a set-piece specialist, has plenty of experience in the Championship lining up for clubs such as Leeds United in the division before.
This deal looked all but done yesterday when Aston Villa’s chairman Tony Xia tweeted about ongoing negotiations for an unnamed player which sent the club’s fans into a frenzy over who it could be.
The obvious answer was the Hammers star and now it seems that Bruce would have convinced another big name to join the Brummie club.
There is no question over Snodgrass’ ability on the pitch.
His passing, crossing and set-piece abilities will immediately place him as one of the Championship’s best players.
He didn’t look out of place in the Premier League during his time at Hull but for whatever reason, couldn’t get the job done in London.
Not to worry for Villa fans though as they will be getting a star player who has tasted promotion from the Championship before.
