September was a hectic month for Championship sides, with most teams playing six games in a short amount of time as the table begins to shape up nicely.

Today, the EFL announced through Twitter the four managers who would be up for the Manager of the Month award.

All four enjoyed a splendid September with Aston Villa and Norwich City in particular turning their season around after a poor first month in the Championship.

Daniel Farke's men picked up fourteen points from their six games and set a club-record in the process by not conceding for five successive league games.

Steve Bruce's side were similarly resolute in defence, conceding just the once in the month and also picking up four wins and two draws.

Bristol City and Lee Johnson were another to hit fourteen points and remain unbeaten, which was particularly impressive when you see that they had to visit Wolves, Reading, Norwich and Ipswich.

Finally, Alex Neil's Preston didn't lose but it was three wins and three draws from their six games, which has left North End in the play-offs.

A decision on the winner will be announced tomorrow and the judging panel consists of ex-Ipswich manager George Burley and pundit Don Goodman among others.

The Verdict

It's been a fantastic month for all the managers mentioned, who have either maintained a great start or reversed their club's fortunes.

Given Alex Neil picked up fewer points than the other trio, it would be a surprise if the Preston manager won the award.

Whilst it would be nice recognition for a great month for either of Farke, Bruce or Johnson, they will know that it's all about maintaining this form when the football is back.
