Aston Villa and Newcastle United are eyeing a summer move for Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes, according to FLW sources.

Blackburn rejected a £12 million bid from Middlesbrough for Jordan Rhodes
FLW understands Rhodes is being targeted by Villa and Newcastle

FLW can exclusively reveal that Villa and Newcastle scouts were present at Rovers' Sky Bet Championship clash with Birmingham City on Tuesday night at St Andrews, to watch the Scotland International in action.

The match finished in a 2-2 draw between Blackburn and Birmingham, and Rhodes managed to get himself on the scoresheet - scoring a goal in the 68th minute to put Rovers in the lead at the time.

The 25-year-old frontman has long been linked with a move away from the Championship outfit, and this upcoming transfer window could be when Rhodes makes the step up to the top-flight.

Rhodes is renowned for his prolific abilities and has thus far scored 18 goals in 37 appearances for Gary Bowyer's Blackburn Rovers side this season.

During his time at Huddersfield Town, Rhodes managed to accumulate a sizeable 73 goals from 124 appearances.

Rovers rejected a £12 million bid from Hull City at the start of the season, so the Championship club will no doubt demand a significant fee for the highly-rated striker.
