It has emerged from an exclusive report by the Daily Mail that recently relegated sides Aston Villa and Newcastle as well as Premier League side Sunderland are all set to compete for highly-rated Reading midfielder, Danny Williams.

The United States international has been ever-present in Reading's side and it appears that his performances over the course of the season and his dynamic runs forward from midfield have been attracting interest.

Although Danny Williams can lack the consistency, there is no doubt that he is richly talented.

Williams' goal against Blackburn Rovers, which was one of five goals that he scored during the Championship campaign, made its way onto the shortlist for the goal of the season in the Football League.

With Oliver Norwood also linked with a move away from the Madejski Stadium with Hull City keen on signing the Northern Ireland international and Aaron Tshibola linked with a move to Norwich, Jaap Stam may have the difficult task of filling an enormous void in the centre of midfield.

The Daily Mail report suggests that Newcastle, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Swansea City have all got in contact with Danny Williams' entourage as they look to lure the U.S international away from Reading.

It appears that Jaap Stam and Reading will have their resolve increasingly tested over the summer as the interest in Williams intensifies.

Aston Villa and Newcastle fans, what do you make of the news? Would you like to see Danny Williams at your club? Is he a dynamic figure you'd like to see in your midfield? Is he better than your current options?

Reading fans,  what do you make of the news? Will you be disappointed if Danny Williams does leave? Do you think it is inevitable? How much do you think he is worth? Who would you bring in to replace him if he was to leave?
