Everton winger Yannick Bolasie is unlikely to join Aston Villa or Middlesbrough.
According to The Birmingham Mail, Bolasie would prefer to remain in the top flight rather than drop down a division and play in the Championship.
Aston Villa and Middlesbrough have both been credited with an interest in the 29-year-old, who is surplus to requirements at Everton.
After moving to Goodison Park in a £30m deal just two seasons ago, Bolasie has made a total of 32 appearances for the Merseyside club, scoring twice.
The DR Congo international previously played for Crystal Palace, scoring 13 times in 144 appearances for the South London club in a spell which included winning promotion to the Premier League.
As well as Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, Fenerbahce have been linked with the speedy winger.
Both Championship sides were said to be put off by the potential stumbling block of his £75,000-per-week salary but it now appears that it is the player who is unwilling to make the move.
The Verdict
This is a shame for both parties as Bolasie would have added something special to their options.
With deceptive trickery and blistering pace, he would have been one of the most dangerous attacking players in the division if he stayed fit.
But it looks like a move to Fenerbahce or somewhere else on the continent looks more likely for the former Plymouth Argyle, Barnet and Bristol City man.
