As per a report in the Daily Mail, both Aston Villa and Bournemouth are taking a look at Marcus Bettinelli of Fulham ahead of the new football season.

The story suggests that both sides are looking at getting in a new goalkeeper for the new campaign and with only a few weeks left in the window they will want to think about getting such business done rather sharpish.

Bettinelli, then, is a wanted man though it remains to be seen if either side dips their toes into the transfer bidding water and tries to tempt Fulham with an offer.

Bettinelli, of course, has received England call-ups in recent times but could not help prevent his side drop into the Championship last year.

He'll be looking to get them back into the top flight this season as things stand, then, but whether or not that changes if an offer comes in remains to be seen.

The Verdict

At the moment, Fulham fans needn't worry too much about this.

Yes, it's never nice to see your players linked away but there does not appear to be an offer being prepared imminently and both Bournemouth and Villa have multiple targets in terms of getting a new goalkeeper.

Bettinelli would be a good signing for either, but Scott Parker will be confident that he can keep him at the club and put together a challenge for the title this coming season.
