According to a report by The Sun, Aston Villa and Derby County are among the teams interested in signing free agent midfielder Joe Ledley.

Aston Villa and Derby County will face competition from Premier League side West Bromwich Albion for Ledley, who is available on a free transfer after leaving Crystal Palace.

Joe Ledley would provide these sides with vast experience, having played a number of games at the top level.

The 30-year-old started his career at hometown club Cardiff City, featuring over 250 times for the Bluebirds before making the switch to join Celtic in 2010.

Ledley made over 100 appearances for Celtic before moving back to the English leagues and joining Premier League side Crystal Palace in January 2014.

The Wales international played almost 100 times for Crystal Palace in his three and a half year stay and also has 73 caps for his country.

The left-footed central midfielder is now on the radar of West Brom after they lost Darren Fletcher to Stoke.

Aston Villa also want a central midfielder despite having plenty on their books already and could see Ledley as a cheaper alternative to top target Glenn Whelan.

Derby are looking to revamp their squad under Gary Rowett and Ledley has been identified as a decent addition on a free.

However, these clubs face competition from Germany, China and Turkey for the in-demand Welshman this summer.
