Aston Villa and Celtic battle over midfielder (not Snodgrass)

Conor Hourihane is being closely monitored by Aston Villa and Scottish giants Celtic, according to the Daily Mail.

The Tykes’ skipper has been outstanding in recent years for the Yorkshire side and the club’s success since his arrival is no coincidence.

The 25-year-old, who has progressed through the Football League divisions, has an incredible record for a central midfielder with 27 goals and 39 assists since his move to Yorkshire in 2014.

After hearing about the interest in himself, the Irishman is thought to have decided to delay signing a new contract at Oakwell until the end of the season where he will make his final decision.

This leaves Barnsley in a tricky situation where they could cash in on the former Argyle man in the January window or be forced to let him go for free at the end of the season.

No matter what he or the club decides, Villa and Celtic will reportedly be waiting at their doorstep ready to bring him on board.

So… Barnsley fans, what do you think your club should do? Villa fans, would Conor Hourihane be a good addition to the centre of your midfield? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below!
