Yeovil Town defender Tom James is wanted by four Championship clubs this summer, according to The Yorkshire Post.

Aston Villa, Bristol City, Hull City and Swansea City all want to sign the young centre-back, who can also play at full-back.

James joined Yeovil in January 2017 after being released by Cardiff City and he has since played over 50 games for the club.

His impressive display with the League Two side have caught the attention of some Championship clubs, who are keen to make a move for him this summer.

Aston Villa are cash-strapped so they are lining up a possible bargain move, while Bristol City could view him as a replacement for Hordur Magnusson and Aden Flint.

Hull lost Michael Dawson to Nottingham Forest earlier this summer and Swansea are anticipating the departure of Alfie Mawson to the Premier League.

Hull are also interested in PSV Eindhoven defender Jordy de Wijs, who is a Netherlands under-21 international.

James, 22, is a former Wales youth international who has been watched by Championship sides.

The Verdict

James is still young and definitely has the potential to become a big player in the second tier.

His versatility and solidity at the back make him a useful capture for these sides, even as a squad option.

But this all depends on what price Yeovil are going to demand for him.
