Aston Villa are monitoring the progress of Bolton Wanderers winger Dennis Politic ahead of a potential move the 19-year-old in the January transfer window, Football Insider have reported.

Politic, who enjoyed his first experience of senior football while on loan in the National League with Salford City last season, was one of the youngsters called into the first-team at Bolton to cope with a lack of senior players at the club early in the current campaign.

Although Wanderers have since gone onto bring several more experienced players into their side, Politic has continued to be a regular feature under Keith Hill, with the Romanian making 11 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring in both the League Cup against Rochdale, and EFL Trophy against Bradford.

It now seems as though those performances have caught the attention of some of those further up the football pyramid, with the latest reports claiming that Aston Villa are taking an interest in the teenager.

According to recent updates, Villa are closely monitoring the progress of the Romainian, who is said to be one of a number of Football League prospects the newly-promoted Premier League side are keeping tabs on before the transfer window reopens in January.

The Verdict

This is an interesting one.

Politic has clearly show plenty of promise while breaking through at Bolton, and it does seem as though he has the ability to step further up the football pyramid.

It does therefore make sense for Aston Villa to move quickly for Politic before anyone else does, and you feel the teenager himself could be tempted by a move to the Premier League.

While Bolton are not going to lose a player who has the potential to benefit them in the way that Politic could, there current financial situation means the funds they could receive for the winger may be just as useful to the club.
