Aston Villa’s, Andre Green, has taken to his personal Twitter account to deliver a message as he steps up his return from injury.

Green has established himself as a first-team regular under Steve Bruce over the last year, with the 19-year-old featuring regularly during the opening fixtures of the current season.

Bruce handed Green six appearances earlier this season, with the youngster repaying the Villa manager’s faith, scoring one goal and impressing.

However, an injury picked up early last month has left Green on the sidelines, with the 19-year-old undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury.

Bruce admitted that injury would leave Green out of action for months, but the player is beginning to step up his return to fitness, sharing pictures of his progress on Twitter.

In Green’s absence, Villa have started to climb the Sky Bet Championship table, and an unbeaten September has put Bruce’s side on the brink of the play-offs.

Villa have won their last four Championship fixtures, which has lifted Bruce’s side to seventh, and they headed into last week’s international break just one point behind sixth placed, Preston North End.

Bruce’s men return to Championship action this Saturday evening, when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

The Verdict

Green’s message will encourage Villa’s supporters, with the winger clearly making excellent progress on his quest to return to first-team action.

The 19-year-old’s injury was a sickening blow, as he had made an excellent start to the season for Villa.

Villa’s supporters will hope that when Green returns, he can continue his rapid development in the first-team and compete with the likes of Albert Adomah and Robert Snodgrass for a starting berth.
