Jack Grealish has taken to Twitter to express his delight at winning Aston Villa’s Goal of the Season award last night.

The 22-year-old’s stunning volley against Cardiff City was named as Villa’s Goal of the Season at last night’s awards.

The midfielder took to his personal Twitter account earlier today to deliver a picture of himself receiving his award, before mentioning the supporters he saw and spoke to. Grealish’s full message read:

Grealish has enjoyed a superb year for Villa this season, scoring three goals and registering five assists to help Steve Bruce’s side into promotion contention in the Sky Bet Championship.

Play-off football is already guaranteed at Villa Park, with Villa still holding an outside chance of clinching automatic promotion.

Grealish’s goal against Cardiff earlier in the month secured a 1-0 victory for Bruce’s side, and set Villa up for a three-match winning streak, which has helped to clinch a place in the play-offs.

Following that victory over the Bluebirds, Villa have beaten Leeds United and Ipswich Town.

The victory over Ipswich was an emphatic 4-0 triumph on Saturday, which showcased Villa’s promotion credentials at Portman Road.

The Verdict

Grealish’s connection with Villa is to be admired, as the midfielder clearly loves playing for the club.

His goal against Cardiff deserved to be recognised last night, and in return it is good to see the midfielder mixing with supporters.

Grealish is going to be crucial for Villa in the coming weeks, and Villa’s supporters will be praying that he is the man to guide them back to the Premier League.
