Many Ipswich Town supporters have been praising the performance of goalkeeper Will Norris, who helped the Tractor Boys record a clean sheet in their goalless draw with Oxford United on Tuesday night.

Paul Lambert once again elected to start Will Norris in goal ahead of Tomas Holy for the Tractor Boys’ trip to Oxford, and that decision was vindicated, with the keeper managing to cope well in the poor weather conditions to help Ipswich record just a second clean sheet in their last 12 games in all competitions.

It also means that Norris has now conceded just two goals in Ipswich’s last three League One matches, after shipping five in the defeat at Lincoln City at the end of December, which had seen the Tractor Boys looking unusually vulnerable in defence.

Since that Lincoln defeat though, Norris has pulled off some important saves, but has been largely offered better protection from Ipswich’s defence, which suggests that Lambert’s side are starting to get back to their defensive solidity from earlier on in the campaign.

Against Oxford, Norris was again protected well by the back three of Luke Chambers, Luke Woolfenden and James Wilson for most of the game, but was still called upon to make an superb save towards the end of the game to deny Josh Ruffel’s fierce effort which had taken a deflection on the way through.
