Bristol City centre-back Ashley Williams has issued strong praise for teammate Han-Noah Massengo following his strong start to life at the club after his summer move to the club.

Massengo has made 16 appearances for the Robins since his switch from Monaco back in August, with the 18-year-old adapting to life in the Championship with ease by holding down a place in the Bristol City midfield.

The France youth international was left out of the side for three matches back in November, but he has regained his spot in the last two games as he has helped Lee Johnson's side to back-to-back victories over Huddersfield and Fulham.

Williams, who also joined the club in August, has now been speaking about Massengo's progress since joining the Robins, and the defender only had praise for the midfielder who he believes plays with maturity despite his young age.

"I really like him," he told Bristol Live.

"His maturity, he’s quiet, he listens, you couldn’t ask for anymore in a young lad. His performance are mature, he’s gritty, he doesn’t mind a fight with bigger men than him."

Massengo's strong midfield performances have helped Bristol City up to fourth in the Championship table, with Johnson's side now gearing up for a promotion push during the second half of the season.

The Verdict

Bristol City produced some fine recruitment over the summer as they secured the services of Williams and Massengo - alongside the likes of Adam Nagy and Daniel Bentley - with all players performing well so far this term.

Many Robins supporters would have perhaps not expected to see so much of Massengo in the side this season, but Johnson has found it hard to drop the Frenchman given his consistent displays in the centre of the park.

The club's decision to secure the former Monaco man's services on a four-year deal now appears to be an inspired move, but it would not be a surprise to see Massengo attracting interest from the Premier League in the near future.
