Ashley Fletcher wants Sunderland to keep believing in themselves for the remaining games.

Sunderland are six points away from safety with four games remaining, so it's highly likely they are going down.

They have played well in recent games against Leeds and Norwich, but were unfortunate to only pick up draws in both of them matches.

They have two key games ahead of them against Reading and Burton which they need to win to have any chance of staying up.

After that they play Fulham and Wolves who are currently in first and second.

Fletcher joined on loan from Middlesbrough in January and has only been able to contribute one goal in 12 games so far.

Here's what he had to say about the remaining games after the Norwich result, according to the Sunderland official site: "We’re aware that we’ve left ourselves with a huge mountain to climb, and coming in and seeing the other results just added insult to injury really."

"We played well against Leeds and were unlucky not to take the three points there, and then the same thing has happened against Norwich."

"You have to stay positive, that’s the attitude that all the staff and players have."

The Verdict

Mentality is important for the remaining games because without that they won't be able to achieve anything.

Their remaining schedule isn't as bad as it looks on paper because Wolves and Fulham could have nothing to play for when the fixtures come around depending on other results.

However, it's still unlikely that they will make up the six-point gap. Coleman has got them approaching games in the right manner because they are proactive, but it could be a case of too little, too late.
