Bristol City are a club who have seriously crept up the Championship table since winning promotion from League One back in 2014.

Last season saw them miss out on the play-offs after they ran out of steam at a crucial stage of the campaign, tumbling down to mid-table instead, but there were plenty of sure signs that they would be back.

And so it has proven. Lee Johnson's side currently sit in sixth place with just five games remaining of the season and with a game in hand on the sides around them.

It is a season that has seen a lot of impressive individual displays as well.

Andy Weimann has rediscovered his goalscoring touch, Callum O'Dowda has been a constant menace out wide and Josh Brownhill remains a class act in midfield.

But the player is perhaps set to cause the biggest stir in the upcoming transfer window is 20-year-old defender Lloyd Kelly.

Breaking into the Robins' first team last season having graduated through the club's youth ranks, Kelly has kicked on to another level this time around, racking up 30 league appearances and becoming an integral part of Johnson's squad.

But with that form comes inevitable interest and Kelly has not escaped it with Football Insider reporting that Premier League giants Liverpool are reportedly keen on bringing him in during the summer.

Turning down a move such as one to the Reds is always going to be extremely difficult. After all, football can be cruel. An injury could end his career one game into next season so why not take the move whilst he can?

Well, I will tell you why. In Andy Robertson, Liverpool have the best left-back in the Premier League and possibly even the world.

Whilst he would be a great mentor for Kelly, he is not going to be giving up much game time for him either.

The only thing, therefore, that should be on the 20-year-old's mind right now, is staying at Bristol City. If he can impress again next season there is no doubt that a Premier League team will come in once again.
