Following their promotion from the National League at the end of last season, Stockport County have made a solid start to life back in the Football League.

The Hatters currently sit tenth in the League Two table, just three points adrift of the play-off places, so they may not be ruling out a second consecutive promotion just yet.

Whether or not they do secure a place in League One next season, will no doubt have a big say on the club's plans for the summer, not just with regards to signings.

Exactly which division the club are playing in next season, could well also have a say on which players who are set to see their contracts expire in the summer, are given new deals at Edgeley Park.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at every player in Stockport's current first-team squad, whose contract with the club is set to expire at the end of this season.

Ben Hinchliffe

Goalkeeper Hinchliffe has been on quite a journey with Stockport, having joined the club back in the summer of 2016 when the club were playing in the National League North.

Now 34-years-old, Hinchliffe is closing in on 300 appearances for the club, having been handed a new contract by Stockport back in the summer, though that deal is set to expire at the end of this season, meaning his prospects for the 2023/24 campaign and beyond, remain to be seen.

Bobby Jones

Another goalkeeper who is set to be out of contract at Stockport in the summer is Bobby Jones, who joined the club on a free transfer back in September on a short-term deal.

The 21-year-old has however, yet to make his first-team debut for the club, meaning it is unclear if he will have done enough to have earned an extended stay at Edgeley Park.

Ryan Johnson

Centre back Johnson joined Stockport for an undisclosed fee from Port Vale back in the 2022 January transfer window, and has been a regular feature for the side since then.

The 26-year-old has made 50 appearances in all competitions for the club already, but having signed an 18-month deal with the club when he joined, the defender is due to leave Edgeley Park in the summer, something his regular involvement in the side means the club may be keen to change.

Chris Hussey

Another signing to have joined Stockport from Port Vale, left-back Hussey made the move to Edgeley Park in September, after being released by the Valiants.

The 34-year-old has since made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Hatters, scoring three goals, but having only signed on a deal until the end of this season, a decision may soon need to be taken on his future with the club.

Phil Bardsley

Former Manchester United, Sunderland and Stoke defender Phil Bardsley attracted a fair bit of attention back in December, when he joined Stockport on a contract that is set to expire at the end of this season.

As part of the move, the 37-year-old has donated the whole of his salary to the club's Community Trust, while he has made three appearances on the pitch, though his recent opportunities for game time have been restricted by injury.

Loans

Goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros, as well as defenders Joe Grayson Aaron Rowe are also due to leave Stockport in the summer, when their loans from Liverpool, Barrow and Huddersfield respectively, expire.
