Currently sitting fifth in the Championship table, Blackburn Rovers will be aiming for a strong end to the 2022/23 season.

Given they are currently in the mix for the play-off places, Jon Dahl Tomasson's side cannot be ruled out in the battle for promotion to the Premier League at this moment in time.

Whether or not they are successful in securing a return to the top-flight in the next few months, could then have a big say on the club's plans for the summer window.

That relates to both potential signings, and the future of players currently at Ewood Park, whose contract are expiring at the end of this season, where the division Rovers are playing in next season, could be decisive in whether or not they are handed a new deal by the club.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at the current senior Blackburn Rovers player who as things stand, are set to leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of this season, right here.

Ben Brereton-Diaz

One player who looks destined to leave Blackburn at the end of this season regardless of what division they are in, is Ben Brereton-Diaz.

Having been Rovers' top scorer last season with 22 goals, the Chile international is again their leading scorer in their current campaign, with a further ten goals, something which has seen the Ewood Park club stand firm on their reported £15million asking price during this seasons transfer windows.

That is despite the fact his contract is expiring this summer, which now looks set to mean they will lose him for nothing in a few month's time, with it reported in January that the 23-year-old has signed a pre-contract agreement to join La Liga side Villarreal in the summer.

Bradley Dack (Option)

Having struggled for game time during the first half of this season, the fact that Dack's contract was set to expire at the end of this season, had prompted some to suggest that his time at Ewood Park was coming to an end.

However, the 29-year-old has enjoyed a resurgence since the World Cup break, and is the only Rovers player to score more than once since the action resumed, having hit the net four times since the action resumed.

As a result, the fact Blackburn hold the option to extend Dack's contract by a further 12 months until the summer of 2024, and with the player himself recently suggesting he is keen to extend his stay at Ewood Park, it would now feel like a big surprise if the attacker leaves Rovers this summer.

One out of contract player who does not have an option in his contract for next season, is centre back Daniel Ayala.

Having joined on a free transfer from Middlesbrough back in the summer of 2020, Ayala endured two injury hit seasons at Ewood Park, although he has been a much more regular feature in the side during the current campaign, and did recently indiciate that he is keen to extend his stay with the club.

But at 32, the Spaniard is much older than Rovers other central defensive options, who all have longer term deals, and the club's interest in 23-year-old Ryan Porteous - who eventually joined Watford - in January, suggests they may be thinking elsewhere when it comes to their future defensive options.
