Derby County have confirmed that languid midfielder Tom Huddlestone will rejoin the club from Hull City, on a two-year deal, with the option of a third.

The fee is officially undisclosed, but the Hull City Daily Mail recently reported that the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder's contract with the Tigers contained a £2m release clause.

Huddlestone joins former Hull team mate Curtis Davies, and Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom on Gary Rowett's list of new arrivals, as the former Burton Albion manager prepares for his first full season in charge of the club whom he played for 105 times during his playing days.

Rams fans reacted to the news that Huddlestone will rejoin the club some twelve years after he left to join Tottenham very happily.

Some made reference to his reported £2m transfer fee as a bargain, especially as compared to the fees received for departees Will Hughes and Cyrus Christie this summer.

Others remarked that the former England international will form part of a solid spine that should solidify the Rams as they go in search of a first return to the Premier League since their relegation in 2008.
