Once again it was a frustrating campaign for Brentford, who just didn't have the consistency to push for a play-off place.

They have real quality in the side and have shown they are capable of beating anyone in the Championship on their day but three away wins in the season highlights where it went wrong.

Whilst Bees fans will feel that a few tweaks could see the side push on, history has shown that they are a selling club and that could mean they have to start all over again during the summer.

The obvious player who may depart is top scorer Neal Maupay and if a good bid does come in you can see him moving on - and fans may be resigned to that happening.

Even though he will be tough to replace, the Bees have sold goalscorers in the past and their excellent recruitment has managed to bring in suitable replacements.

However, one man who would be tougher to replace is the classy Said Benrahma.

The Algerian was one of only five players in the Championship to reach double figures for goals and assists, with the 23-year-old undoubtedly a real talent.

Therefore, everyone connected to the club would've been extremely worried when Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal were linked with the player earlier this year.

But, pleasingly for Brentford, those rumours appear to have gone away and keeping Benrahma has to be a priority. Quite simply, he is a player to build the side around and can be key to a promotion push next season.

We've already touched on his end product and to have such stats after his first season in England highlights the quality that he has and he will be hoping to improve on those figures as he improves.

Again, the reality of Brentford's situation means they know they won't be able to hold on to the former Nice man for too long but it does appear as though he will be at Griffin Park next season and Benrahma could be the man to inspire a proper promotion push.
