Arvin Appiah has sent a message to his former Nottingham Forest teammate Brennan Johnson on social media, after the midfielder signed a new long-term contract at the City Ground.

Johnson is regarded as one of the brightest young talents at Nottingham Forest and made his debut for the Reds on the opening day of the season against West Brom.

The 18-year-old has made three appearances for Nottingham Forest so far this season and has impressed with his performances, and has now committed his long-term future to the club by signing a contract extension.

Appiah was a key player for Nottingham Forest last season, but left the club to join Spanish side UD Almeria for £8million in the summer.

The forward was quick to congratulate his former Reds teammate Johnson on his new deal with a message on his personal Instagram story.

Nottingham Forest finished ninth in the Championship table last season but have made a positive start to their new campaign under head coach Sabri Lamouchi and are unbeaten in their last nine matches in all competitions.

The Verdict

Johnson is a talented young player and he could have a big future ahead of him at the City Ground.

It's a major boost for Nottingham Forest to get him tied down to a new deal, especially after seeing another talented youngster in Appiah depart the club in the summer.

Johnson has clearly impressed Lamouchi so far this season and he'll now be determined to nail down a place in the starting line-up at the City Ground. I'm sure the young midfielder will appreciate this message from his former teammate Appiah.
