A host of Premier League and Championship clubs - including top flight giants Arsenal - are after Gillingham's Tomas Holy, according to reports.

The Mirror reports that Arsenal are considering a swoop for Holy but face competition from Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham United in this hunt.

Championship duo Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion are also keen in the man mountain, who stands at a staggering 6ft 9in tall.

Holy joined Gillingham in January 2017 and has since started over 50 games, establishing himself as one of the finest goalkeepers in League One.

The 26-year-old is wanted by Arsenal, who could lose David Ospina and Petr Cech after Bernt Leno's arrival.

Everton could move for the former Czech Republic youth international if Jordan Pickford leaves, while West Ham are being linked despite having Lukasz Fabianski and Adrian as options.

Crystal Palace's number one Wayne Hennessey signed a new deal this summer but Holy would provide competition.

Boro want the towering stopper to compete with Darren Randolph, Dimi Konstantopoulos and Connor Ripley, while West Brom have signed Sam Johnstone and Jonathan Bond but want a third keeper.

The Verdict

Holy would do well as a back-up choice for any of these sides but whether he could make the step up and start is another question.

Standing at 6ft 9in, he is going to be hard to beat in the air and this could attract these top flight clubs.

West Brom do not really need him as they have two decent goalkeepers already, while Boro snapping him up would surely mean that Ripley is off again.
