Wolverhampton Wanderers target Jack Wilshere has been offered a new deal at Arsenal, The Mirror is reporting.

As a number of clubs circle Wilshere and weigh up a move for the midfielder on a free transfer, Arsenal are hoping to fend off any competitors by offering him fresh terms.

Contract talks had reached a standstill after the Gunners were only prepared to pay Wilshere £90k-per-week, which is £20k-per-week less than he earns currently.

With the academy product's contract due to end this summer, it was looking increasingly likely that he would be let go and become available as a free agent.

This has sparked the interest of a number of clubs both domestically and abroad with Italian duo AC Milan and Juventus ready to fight Premier League sides like Everton, West Ham United and newly promoted Wolves for his signature.

Wolves have readied a big money package for the England international as they look to add more quality to their squad for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Nuno Espirito Santo wants to partner Wolves star Ruben Neves with Wilshere in the middle of the park as he aims for success in the top flight.

But now Arsenal have submitted a new contract offer in excess of £100k-per-week which is said to be interesting the 26-year-old.

The Verdict

There is no doubting Wilshere's ability and he seems committed to Arsenal. But given his injury record, he should try a fresh start elsewhere rather than signing a new deal at The Emirates. Wolves would be a perfect place for him to move his career forward as they play an exciting brand of football with a highly-rated coach and he would be joining a young team full of talented attacking players.
