Brentford have had a bid of £5 million plus add-ons rejected by Arsenal for young forward Folarin Balogun, as per the Daily Mail.

The youngster has been a key part of Arsenal's youth sides over his teenage career and last season the forward managed to net an astounding 28 goals in 28 games.

At just 18-years-old, he is one of the biggest prospects in the Arsenal youth system, and Brentford are looking to take him away with the enticement of game time at senior level.

They are in competition for the striker though, and it comes from European giants AC Milan. The Italian club has recently been scouring the United Kingdom for young English talent.

Brentford currently have the impressive Ollie Watkins as their main forward within the side but do not currently have many back-up options to play that position in the front three.

The Verdict

Balogun looks like a very impressive youngster in the Arsenal youth system and seems like someone who has grown up knowing exactly where the back of the net is.

If Brentford can bring him to the Championship then they'll have one hell of a player at the club knowing that it is very likely the striker will only get better in future years.

The Bees are building for a push to the Premier League, and it seems as though the position that is wanted most is a striker. Frank is clearly worried about relying on Watkins for the rest of the season.

It's set to be an intriguing week at the Bees, and it'll be interesting to see whether they are able to get one or two additions over the line.
