There is only one thing on Nottingham Forest fans' minds as we prepare to enter the halfway stage of the January transfer window - signing another striker.

Sabri Lamouchi is expected to bolster his attacking options this month, despite bidding farewell to the likes of Daryl Murphy, Jason Cummings, Hillal Soudani and Jason Cummings over the course of the summer,

Cover is undoubtedly needed for leading goalscorer Lewis Grabban, as any sort of injury to the 14-goal ace would be detrimental for Forest in their bid for promotion to the Premier League.

Rafa Mir is still on the club's books, of course, but speculation linking him with a move to Huesca won't go away, and he has hardly set the world alight since arriving on loan from Wolves in the summer.

Naturally, plenty of centre-forwards have been linked with a move to Forest, and one of those players is Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah, as Lamouchi looks to bring in back-up for Grabban.

As opposed to the potential additions of Lyle Taylor or Glenn Murray, this would be a loan signing for the Reds, where Nketiah will look to play regularly and bounce back from a disappointing loan spell at Leeds United.

The 20-year-old scored five goals during his time at Elland Road, but was recalled by parent club Arsenal a fortnight ago having made just two starting appearances in the Championship in the first-half of the season.

Now, Arsenal's aim for their young forward will be for him to get out on loan again, earn regular game time and continue to find the net, amid reported interest from Bristol City and Forest.

The next move in Nketiah's career is vital - the striker will be looking to impress out on loan in the second-half of the campaign in order to send a message to new Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, in the hopes of forcing his way into the Gunners' first-team in the near future.

This, then, would raise question marks over a potential move to the City Ground, as it's a move which might not make too much sense to some.

The reason why Arsenal recalled Nketiah from his spell at Elland Road was simply down to his lack of game time - Patrick Bamford is Marcelo Bielsa's favoured option up top, and brings much more to the team than just the 10 goals he's scored this term.

This is likely to be the same case at the City Ground, and whilst Nketiah may be a huge talent, it seems extremely unlikely that Grabban will become Forest's second-choice forward having scored so many goals this season.

It also seems unlikely that Lamouchi will change from his trusted 4-2-3-1 system, which has served Forest so well this season, in order to accommodate two strikers up top, especially at this stage of the season.

Of course, Forest wouldn't mind having a talented, hungry young player like Nketiah as an option to bring off the bench, but is that what Arsenal would really want for their player?

Comparing this to a potential switch to Bristol City, that move would make a lot more sense from an outsider's perspective - the Robins are desperate for an out-an-out centre-forward to go in and start week in, week out.

Whilst they might not be as high up as Forest in the league table, Nketiah would go to Ashton Gate and become the main man - if he moved to the City Ground, he would surely be at danger if falling into the same situation that he found himself in at Elland Road.
