Arsenal are reportedly looking to reignite their interest in signing Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, according to football.london.

The Gunners had previously been interested in a deal to sign the 25-year-old, who is contracted with the Championship side until the summer of 2024.

Raya has been Brentford's first-choice goalkeeper for the majority of his time with Thomas Frank's side, who are well-placed to win promotion into the Premier League this term.

The Bees are set to take on AFC Bournemouth in their Championship play-off semi-final, in what is certain to be a closely-fought battle over two legs, between two teams that have caught the eye with a number of strong performances in this year's league campaign.

Raya has played his part in Brentford's push for promotion this term, with the shot-stopper making 45 appearances in all competitions for Frank's men.

His impressive showings haven't gone unnoticed in recent years though, with Arsenal being credited with interest in signing him in previous transfer windows.

With a move failing to materialise for one reason or another, Mikel Arteta's side are seemingly keen to land his signature in the summer though, as they look to find a goalkeeper that is capable of challenging Bernd Leno for his starting spot in the Arsenal team moving forwards.

The Verdict:

This isn't surprising to hear, as we head into the summer transfer window.

Raya has really impressed me with Brentford over the years, and he deserves a shot in the Premier League in the future, even if that isn't to be with the Bees.

It seems hard to believe that he'd be getting in the Arsenal starting XI anytime soon though, as that would be a sizeable step up from Brentford.

But as a backup option to Bernd Leno, I think he could prove to be a solid signing for the Gunners, who are likely to be looking for a replacement for Matt Ryan this summer, with the Australian's loan spell being set to expire at the end of this year's league campaign.

It could be a shrewd move by Arsenal to target Raya again this summer, especially if Brentford are to fall short in their efforts to win promotion into the Premier League.
