Arsenal are eyeing a summer swoop for Charlton maestro Joe Aribo, as reported by the Daily Star.

The 22-year-old has been a key figure for Lee Bowyer's side as they've climbed the table to challenge for a play-off place, but he's been attracting a lot of interest as his contract slowly runs down.

He was linked with a move abroad earlier in the summer, but he's now on the radar of the Gunners as they look to add to their home grown contingent for next season.

Aribo, a vibrant and exciting midfielder who operates on the edge of both boxes, has been with Charlton since 2015.

He started out at Staines Town, but switched to the Valley and has made 86 appearances in all competitions.

Both Frankfurt and Benfica have shown an interested in Aribo, with his Charlton exit looking more or less certain.

The Addicks are currently fifth in the League One table, ten points clear of Doncaster in seventh but 11 points shy of the final automatic promotion spot.

The Verdict

Usually, I worry when I see a young player being linked with such a big move.

However, there's a hint of the Dele Alli about Aribo. He's impressed in League One, is comfortable on the ball and can drive forward and make things happen.

If Arsenal afforded him plenty of game time, he could be a big star.
