Arsenal man on the verge of joining Championship side

Sky Bet Championship promotion favourites Brighton & Hove Albion are closing in on a deal to sign Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom on loan until the end of the season, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 21-year-old striker who has spent the past two seasons on loan in the Championship with Hull City and Nottingham Forest is set for a loan move once again, this time to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Akpom has been left frustrated due to a lack of opportunities as he has only made a single appearance for Arsenal this season, in the EFL Cup victory over Nottingham Forest.

Akpom who has fallen down the pecking order behind a plethora of strikers will be allowed to leave the North London club in this window on loan.

Aston Villa were initially interested in the 21-year-old striker, however, Brighton & Hove Albion have now stolen the lead as the favourites to sign the Arsenal striker.

Chris Hughton will be hoping that Chuba Akpom can have a large role to play in the second half of the season, potentially firing Brighton to promotion.

Brighton fans, what do you make of the news? Are you pleased by the potential signing of Chuba Akpom? Do you feel that is what Brighton needs? Is he the calibre of signing that Brighton needs to be making? Do you expect that he will be utilised as an impact substitute? As an alternative to Glenn Murray and Tomer Hemed, do you think he can be effective for Brighton? Let us hear your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
